Las Vegas, 2016

36°10′30″N 115°08′11″W - Mojave Desert

Las Vegas is one of the capitals of the anthropocentric world we live in. A place where vices of all sorts get satisfied and glorified. Extravagant architectures go hand in hand with extreme lifestyles. It’s a city that shines.

However once there I was not attracted to the qualities that made this city famous worldwide. The quiet, almost melancholic Las Vegas kept pulling me in. What can we find behind all these lit up, exorbitant buildings? What are the permanent structures of this city? What’s left after all the parties are gone?

Cheese Roll, 2019

Pictures taken at the 19th Rolling Cheese Italian Tournament (couples category) disputed in Anghiari, Tuscany.

Tube Paintings, 2013

These pictures were shot in a underground station that was being renovated.

The traces of old advertising billboards remain on the walls which used to constantly attract the eyes of waiting passengers. The mutilated billboards presented here produce the opposite effect of their young counterparts: no one wants to gaze on them anymore, they do not belong in the realm of beauty.

The passage of human civilization is inscribed on these walls. Ironically they visually resembles primitive cave paintings.

Is this what our present civilization will leave for future explorers?
